Arthur Joseph Barrett
Arthur Joseph Barrett, 82, of Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Arthur was a native of Northampton County, the son of the late William Earley Barrett and Mamie Morgan Barrett. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers. He was a member of Quankie Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids since 1955, where he served as a deacon and led the choir for many years. Arthur was retired from Halifax Linen Service.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Perry Barrett; his daughter, Brenda B. Gray and her husband, John, of Shallotte; his son, Mike Barrett and his wife, Teresa, of Pleasant Garden, NC; two grandchildren, Shannon Parrish and her husband, Josh, and Shelly Tobin and her husband, Chad; four great-grandchildren, Micah, Raegan, Adyson and Ava; his brother, Frank Barrett and his wife, Syretha, of Roanoke Rapids; and a sister-in-law, Mary Barrett, of Jackson.
Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 29, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, at Quankie Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Barrett, Rev. Henry F. Stephens, Rev. Grady Dickens, and Rev. John Gray officiating. Interment services will be held on Saturday, January 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
